It is one of the most recorded acoustic guitars in music history and Gibson's best-selling acoustic model of all time. Handmade in Bozeman, Montana, by Gibson's craftsmen, the new Gibson J45 Special offers players a US-built Gibson acoustic guitar at a very attractive price.

The J45 Special has a slope shoulder body, constructed of solid mahogany for the back and sides, and a solid Sitka spruce top, reinforced with traditional scalloped X-bracing. This wood combination delivers a warm, balanced sound with excellent dynamic response, suitable for a variety of musical styles. The body is slightly shallower than that of the J45 Standard, providing a tighter and more controlled bass response. This helps the guitar sit perfectly in the mix and also makes it more comfortable to hold. The mahogany neck is attached with a traditional compound dovetail joint and glued with hot hide glue, as on all Gibson acoustic guitars. The neck has a slim and fast Slim Taper profile, while the rosewood fingerboard with a 12-inch radius features simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays and 20 standard frets.

The classic belly-up rosewood bridge features a TUSQ saddle, while the nut and bridge pins are also made of TUSQ. High-quality Grover Rotomatic tuning machines ensure excellent tuning stability. The J45 Special is finished in a Satin Vintage Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer. For optimum amplified performance, it is equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle piezo element with active electronics and an easily accessible volume control in the sound hole. The guitar comes with a deluxe softshell case, so it can be safely taken anywhere.
