Weighing in at 23 pounds, the 2101 mk2 is all-around portable. Regular rehearsals and gigs are no problem, and you don't need an army of roadies to get a leaden Leslie into place. In addition to this practical advantage, the Leslie 2101 mk2 offers digital flexibility: numerous parameters regarding the behavior of the rotor can be set and stored.
Leslie 2101 mk2: construction
In the late 1930s, the Leslie speaker was born, designed by Donald J. Leslie. Basically, the concept uses the doppler effect, which makes the sound appear to move. As with "vintage" Leslies, this 2101 mk2 has separate reproduction for bass and treble. The characteristic horn rotor handles the trebles, while the bass is processed by a digital bass rotor. Total power is 50 watts for the horn and 150 watts for the 'Stationary' speakers.
Connection options
The 2101 mk2 can be connected to numerous Hammonds. Both 8-pin and 11-pin Leslie cables can be connected. Thanks to the line-in, instruments without dedicated Leslie output can also be connected. It is additionally possible to send instruments only to the Stationary section, where the rotor system is not used. A MIDI input and output make it possible to send data from a Hammond or other MIDI device.
