The Satchmo trumpet, available in a limited edition of 25 numbered instruments (raw brass finish), was designed as a perfect synthesis of tradition and modernity. It is intended for demanding musicians seeking character, precision, and musicality.

The acoustic objective was to create a “jazz” trumpet with an open, free-blowing bore, immediate response, flawless mechanics, and a broad, warm, focused sound true to the spirit of the original SELMER trumpets.

It is also the first time in SELMER’s history that the company has released an instrument in raw brass, without lacquer. This preserves all of the instrument’s acoustic qualities, allowing it to vibrate freely. Aesthetically, each trumpet will gradually develop a patina over time, making every instrument completely unique.

Developed in collaboration with musicians Airelle Besson and Nicolas Gardel, this trumpet benefits from meticulous work on intonation and projection, validated in real playing conditions. The instrument reveals its full personality in a wide variety of settings, from intimate solo performances to amplified stage environments.

Nicknamed “Satchmo,” Louis Armstrong revolutionized jazz in the 20th century. His phrasing, virtuosity, and stage charisma influenced generations of musicians. He played a SELMER trumpet for many years, affectionately referring to it as his “Little SELMER trumpet, bless her little heart.” SELMER later presented him with a trumpet engraved with his name, symbolizing their mutual loyalty.

Through this tribute model, the House wishes to highlight not only the immense impact of this musician on history, but also his enduring influence on the very conception of sound, freedom, and joy.
