The StingRay, here in its 5-string version, is the most famous model in the Music Man stable. To make this legendary bass accessible to all budgets, Sterling has designed this Ray5 Black with the same character as its predecessor. We find everything that made the success of the StingRay, starting with its muscular sound made possible by a single humbucker accompanied by an active preamp. A very rock bass (but not only) that crosses the years with a disconcerting ease!
A renowned ergonomics
The StingRay has already proven itself in terms of playing comfort. The basswood body contour is well known for its ergonomics and its weight, thanks to the wood used, is much lighter than it seems. As for the neck, it is one of the most appreciated by bassists looking for comfort. Indeed, its narrow width at the nut (45 mm) associated with the 12 inches radius of the maple fingerboard allows a flexible play capable of satisfying the musician avid of technicality as well as the one who prefers the big bass lines well supported.
Active 2-band EQ
Well known for its versatility and ease of use, this StingRay features a unique ceramic magnet humbucker. For optimal EQ adjustment, the active electronics are used to adjust the bass and treble frequencies with the dedicated knobs. This ensures a full and precise sound!
