The Swollen Pickle Turns 30!
Believe it or not, Way Huge’s famously fat, high-gain gherkin is celebrating 30 trips around the sun. To commemorate this momentous occasion, the company is unveiling the Jumbo Fuzz Swollen Pickle XXX, offering a sweet new take on the original’s massive crushing fuzz tones. Replacing the traditional transistor array with high-gain discrete transistors, the XXX delivers more hair than its predecessors. Moreover, it’s also outfitted with refined controls, including an updated Crunch toggle for lightning-fast compression tweaks. You’ll also appreciate the XXX’s massively overhauled tone stack, which is bolstered by internal switches, giving you far-reaching customization of this curmudgeonly cucumber’s splendidly scuzzy voice. Available for a limited time, the Way Huge Jumbo Fuzz Swollen Pickle XXX flaunts suitably off-the-wall special-edition artwork.
Way Huge-er than ever before
The guitarists here at Sweetwater have been playing with the Way Huge Jumbo Fuzz Swollen Pickle XXX for a while, and we've barely scratched the surface of what this delightfully dirty fuzz pedal can do. While it’s certainly similar to earlier iterations of the Swollen Pickle, the XXX is hairier than its predecessors, thanks to updated high-gain discrete transistors. Instead of a Crunch knob, the XXX brandishes a toggle switch that lets you make compression tweaks incredibly fast. Most significant, however, is the XXX’s overhauled tone stack. The Hi and Lo knobs allow you to shape the highpass and lowpass of the Filter control. Meanwhile, internal switches enable you to customize the sweep itself, from flat to ultra-scooped (or ultra-bumped if that’s your thing), supplying you with wide-ranging control over the pedal’s burly fuzz tones. Finally, the Loudness and Sustain knobs are still prominently displayed, giving you everything you need to punish your amp and take your grit from subtle crunch to cacodemonic cacophony.
Way Huge: Jorge Tripps’ legacy lives on
Way Huge founder Jeorge Tripps fired up his first Way Huge creation, the Fuzz Box, back in 1992, and soon created a stable of amazing-sounding stompboxes with equally interesting names. Though Way Huge closed up shop in 1999, demand for these pedals continued to soar; as you'd expect, online auctions brought astronomical prices for Way Huge products. Now, Way Huge teams up with Dunlop to make their premium-quality stompboxes available to you at much more down-to-earth prices. And they're better than ever!
